On June 12th SEERC and Gnomon co-organised the DLT4All Thessaloniki Lab covering two of the project’s thematic priorities: Right to Privacy/Property on Blockchain and Smart Contracts. More than 40 people attended the event, representing the local academic, startup/investor, incubators and professional communities.
The event started with a brief presentation of DLT4All by SEERC and an overview of Distributed Ledger Technologies and relevant research and innovation initiatives by the Information Technologies Institute of Thessaloniki. Next, the relationship between Blockchain and Right to Privacy/Property was presented by SEERC with an emphasis on recent GDPR legislation, while Gnomon presented the advent and potential capabilities of Smart Contracts. Before breaking for lunch, SAP presented its services regarding Blockchain in industrial applications across the globe.
The final session was a panel discussion with the active involvement of the audience, representing the academic, business, legal and start-up worlds, in which the discussants debated the relationship of Blockchain and society, emphasising the legal, technological, political and environmental aspects.
The participants were eager to participate in the next DLT4All event in order to continue the debate and co-create the project’s training modules.
